AhlulBayt News Agency: Israel’s continuous bombardment of the Gaza Strip on Sunday resulted in the deaths of at least 140 Palestinians, including many children. The attacks intensified as the regime announced the beginning of “extensive” ground assaults across the territory.
The Israeli army stated on Sunday that it had launched ground operations in multiple areas of Gaza as part of Operation Gideon's Chariots.
The military confirmed that regular and reserve soldiers were leading the ground invasion of both northern and southern Gaza, supported by air force strikes. The intensified operations come as Israel has also escalated its aerial bombardment.
According to officials, 69 people were killed in Gaza City and the northern Gaza Strip. Hospitals across northern Gaza were reported out of service, largely due to the ongoing attacks and blockade.
Israeli forces also targeted a camp sheltering displaced people in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Yunis, killing dozens of civilians, including children, while they slept in their tents.
Videos from the site of the attack depict horrific scenes of bodies, with some burning due to the strikes.
Additionally, five journalists were among those killed in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza when their homes were bombed.
Hamas condemned the attack on displaced Palestinians in Khan Yunis, describing it as a “brutal crime” and a flagrant violation of international laws.
The movement issued a statement declaring that the United States bears direct responsibility for the escalation of attacks on innocent civilians in Gaza, citing its political and military support for Israel.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have killed at least 53,339 Palestinians and wounded 121,034 others, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
